Stages Carbon for SRAM BB30 Power Meter

The Stages Carbon for SRAM BB30 Power Meter is a proprietary Stages carbon crank arm, made specifically to work with SRAM, Easton and Race Face, when paired with a Stages 30 mm Spindle (included). Like all Stages power meters, this unit features +/- 1.5% accuracy, 200 hours of battery life and is lightweight at only 15 grams of added weight. In addition, the power meter is compatible with both ANT+ and Bluetooth SMART devices. This means you can use a bicycle computer with ANT+ or your smartphone or tablet with Bluetooth SMART.

The new Stages Generation 3 power meter features radio antennas that are 6x more powerful than the previous version. This means better compatibility with both bike computers and watches. The new versions also feature improved accuracy and have an LED indicator light on the housing for improved ease of use.

Advice From Our Staff:

Stages left side crank arms are some of our best-selling units. They are affordable and easy to install. The one consideration is they only measure left leg power compared to some other power meters that measure power from both legs (those versions usually cost more however).

Check Frame Clearance: Crank-arm based power meters like this one attach a sensor on the inside of the left crank arm. On some bikes, there is not enough room between the left crank arm and the chainstay for the sensor to clear the frame. Therefore, you should make sure you have at least 10 mm of clearance between the left crank arm and the chainstay - and that you don't have a bottom bracket mounted rear brake (used on some aero and TT bikes). The important area to measure is right in the middle of the crank arm. Please refer to the image below.

If you find that you have around 7-9 mm of clearance, what many people will do is simply install a 1 or 2 mm bottom bracket spacer (between the left crank arm and the frame), which will give them the clearance they need.

Here’s the deal. PowerMeter compatibility is complicated, Covid has destroyed normal product availability and Customer service is difficult to say the least when it comes to demanding cyclist like myself. Power Meter City delivered some of the best customer service I have ever experienced and this is not just blowing smoke up their you know what. They helped me sift through finding the exact meter, spindle for Dub and even made sure I measured my frame AND installed it with the correct torque spec. They got me the meter super quick and even followed up. I will be buying more from these guys in the future. Thanks again!
