Additional Bicycle Brake Pad Info:

Brake Pad Compounds

Brake pads are available in a variety of different compounds and each has its own benefits. SRAM and Shimano offer Organic or Resin pads. (SRAM uses the name Organic while Shimano uses the name Resin but they are essentially the same compounds). These pads are quite and offer the best brake modulation.

SRAM and Shimano also offer Sintered (SRAM) or Metallic (Shimano) which are more powerful and are the best for wet weather, but lack some of the benefits of resin/organic pads.

absoluteBLACK and MTX both use a ceramic brake pad compound which is known for great stopping power in a variety of conditions.

SRAM

We carry SRAM brake pads for both 11- and 12-speed brake calipers. These are available in Organic or Sintered compounds and offer a balance between reduced noise or performance under heavy braking.

Shimano

Shimano brake pads are available with or without Shimano’s ICE technology. This helps reduce brake fade and distributes heat away from the pad during long periods of braking, but is not compatible with all brake calipers. Shimano brake pads are available in Resin or Metallic compounds.

MTX

MTX uses a unique blend of materials to create performance-oriented brake pad compounds. These are designed to give riders additional stopping power and modulation compared to OEM brake pads.

absoluteBLACK

absoluteBLACK uses a specially modified graphene in order to increase performance and durability of their brake pads. These also utilize cooling fins to draw heat away from the brake pad, making them a great upgrade choice for riders looking for additional stopping power and brake pad longevity.
