SRM X-Power MTB Power Meter Pedal
Introducing the SRM X-Power MTB Power Meter Pedal – a true, ride anywhere, mountain bike power meter pedal! Using a standard Shimano SPD cleat along with tough construction, the SRM X-Power is ready for the dirt or gravel!
Made of stainless steel and aluminum alloy, the X-Power uses a high-quality sealing for protection against mud and water. The electronics and batteries are housed inside the pedal spindle, protecting them from the elements, crashes and rock strikes. In addition, the modular system of the X-Power makes it possible to change the pedal body if necessary.
Installation and set-up are a breeze as no special tools are required – and this pedal-based platform makes moving the power meter from bike to bike a cinch. The pedals feature true left/right power, ANT+ and Bluetooth and get 30 hours of run time out of the rechargeable lithium ion batteries. They also come with a full 2-year warranty.
Key Product Details
Compatibility:
This power meter is compatible with any bike and uses 2-bolt SPD cleats. While most use it for MTB, gravel or cyclocross, they can also be used on a road or indoor bike. See Compatibility tab for more information.
Power Measurement:
The dual-sided version of this SRM power meter has a power sensor in both pedals and measures power from both legs. It is also able to measure your left vs. right leg power. The single-sided version has a sensor in the right pedal only and measures right leg power. It doubles the value to account for both legs (assumes both legs are generating the same force).
Key Features:
Compatible with any bike, easy to install, can move from bike-to-bike, dual-leg power measurement, can measure left vs. right leg power, accurate to within +/- 2.0%, 30 hours of battery life, rechargeable battery, ANT+ and Bluetooth compatible, 2-year warranty. See Specs tab for more information.
Advice From Our Staff:
Despite this power meter being on the more expensive end, it’s still one of our best-selling MTB power meters. This is because it’s compatible with any bike, installs easily and measures power from both legs (dual-sided version). We also like the fact that its similar in size and shape to a normal SPD pedal.

So far, so good. Setup was quick once I figured out that the app had to continue to be used after entering the crank length and bottom position. Connecting to my Gamin Edge cycle computer takes longer than with my Assioma power pedals, roughly 10 seconds of cranking. I was concerned about battery run time after poor reports when the X-Power pedals first came out. In the two weeks since the first charge I have ridden about 3.5 hours and charge level has dropped 29%. This is good enough!

I would echo everything the other Jason noted in his March 11 review and tack on that the customer service from Power Meter City is excellent. The stack height measured spot on the same as my XT pedals and the total weight difference was only 4 grams! These pedals look and feel like a well-made product, as I would expect. Happy. Only niggle, and it’s a minor one, is that only one charge cable is included–so you’ll need to snag another USB cable to charge both pedals simultaneously. Just a heads up!

Super fast shipping and quick response to questions from Power Meter City.
These are very nice as I would expect for the price. I am unable to get a crank based meter for my Campy Ekar which is the route I would have gone if possible for the cost savings. I was torn between these and the Gamin Rally pedals. In the end I decided to spend the extra money on the SRM. I am not disappointed. Their app is easy to use, the interfacing with my Garmin 1030 was seamless. I chose these over the Garmin Rally as these are pretty much identical is size, weight and stack height to the XT SPDS they replaced. The construction is top notch. I was worried about the Garmin’s trying to do too much (as far as swapping pedal bodies is concerned). I also wanted a pedal with an internal battery. I didn’t feel like the batteries and battery doors on the Rally would hold up as well to abuse. Finally from my research the support and long term repair options look better from SRM versus Garmin.
