power2max NG Shimano MTB Power Meter
The NG is the premier model in the power2max line-up. With features such as dual leg power measurement, ANT+/Bluetooth SMART compatibility and left/right power balance, the power2max NG Shimano MTB Power Meter comes fully-loaded. In addition, the NG is accurate to +/- 1.0% and is easy to use with features such as auto-zero and accelerometer-based cadence measurement. The power2max NG model also features a rechargeable battery with 150 hours of run time as well as a full 5-year warranty!
NG vs. NGeco
You are viewing the power2max NG. This is power2max’s premium version. It features several upgrades over the NGeco:
- Better accuracy (+/- 1.0% vs. +/- 2.0%)
- Rechargeable battery (vs. coin cell battery)
- Longer 5-year warranty (vs. 2 year warranty)
- Additional training metrics including left/right power balance
Key Product Details
Compatibility:
This power2max is compatible with Shimano MTB direct mount cranksets using a 1x chainring. This includes the M9100, MT900-1, M8100, M7100, M6100 and MT610. Regarding chainrings, it requires a 104 BCD 4-bolt MTB chainring (which is different than the direct mount chainrings found on many Shimano MTB cranksets). If you don’t already have a 104 BCD 4-bolt chainring, we offer several to choose from. See Compatibility tab for more information.
Power Measurement:
The power2max power meter measures power at the spider and is therefore able to measure power from both legs. This NG version is also able to measure your left vs. right leg power balance.
Key Features:
Dual-leg power measurement, accurate to +/- 1.0%, 150 hours of battery life, rechargeable battery, left/right power balance, ANT+ and Bluetooth compatibility, auto-zero (automatic calibration), 5-year warranty. See Specs tab for more information.
Advice From Our Staff:
This is a super solid option for Shimano MTB direct mount cranksets. Sure you have to change your chainring to a 104 BCD version, but this power2max measures power from both legs, is accurate and reliable. We believe the price also represents a good value for what you get (even for this more expensive NG version). We highly recommend power2max power meters and use them on many of our own bikes.
Options For This Power Meter
Chainline and BCD: This power meter is available in the following chainline options:
- 1X Boost | 104 BCD
- 1X Standard | 104 BCD
Lock Ring Tool: This page also allows you to purchase your power meter with the Shimano Direct Mount Lockring Tool, which is required for installation. We recommend you order it unless you already own one.
Other Versions to Consider
NGeco Version: While the NG version you are viewing here features slightly better accuracy, a rechargeable battery, a longer warranty and some additional training metrics, we also sell the more affordable power2max NGeco Shimano MTB Power Meter version.
Compatibility
Crankset: The power2max NGeco Shimano MTB Power Meter is compatible with Shimano MTB direct mount cranksets such as the M9100 series, MT900-1, M8100 series, M7100 series, M6100 series, MT611-1 and MT610.
Chainrings: This power meter requires a 104 BCD 4-bolt MTB chainring (which is different than the direct mount chainrings found on many Shimano MTB cranksets). If you don't already have a 4-bolt chainring, we offer several to choose from.
- MTB chainrings for power2max
- MTB chainrings for power2max Shimano (for Shimano 12-speed drivetrains)
The smallest chainring you can use on a power2max MTB power meter is a 30T round or 32T oval.
If you purchase a new chainring with your power meter, we will bolt it on to your power meter before shipping, which will make installation that much easier when you get it.
