Favero Assioma PRO RS-2 Road Power Meter Pedals

The Favero Assioma PRO RS-2 Road Power Meter Pedals bring Favero’s latest PRO spindle technology to the road! Unlike the DUO and UNO models that rely on external pods, the new RS-2 pedals feature a podless design that reduces weight, protects internal electronics and delivers a cleaner look. Built around the Shimano SPD-SL cleat system, these pedals are not only durable and highly accurate, they’re also the lightest dual-sided road power meter pedals on the market at just 123.5 grams per pedal.

The RS-2 power meter pedals feature a 53 mm Q-Factor and a 10.5 mm stack height which is very much on par with a standard road pedal. They are also easy to install and can be moved between bikes. This is great for riders who have multiple bikes but only want to purchase one power meter.

Additionally, the Favero RS power meter pedals are +/- 1.0% accurate and provide advanced metrics like Power Phase, Pedal Smoothness, Torque Effectiveness and Platform Center Offset (PCO). They have a rechargeable battery with a battery life of up to 160-hours and come with a full 2-year warranty.

  1. Chad Hladilek (verified owner)

The power meter aspect of these pedals is great. The shortfall comes to the pedal body. First, out of the box these pedals are stiff. They do not like to rotate down under their own weight like a regular set of Shimano pedals. After a couple hundred miles, they loosened up. Some reviewers on YouTube stated this so I was not concerned. After about 1200 miles my left pedal started to squeak. Again others had suggested this happens and regressing is the solution. This is where the problem comes in.

The pedal is constructed with a cap and a bolt that hold the body on the spindle. First you undo the cap. Both sides are normally threaded. Second you undo the bolt holding down the washer on the spindle. The left side has normal threads, the right side has reverse threading. No problem so far. There are two plastic tools you insert to ensure the grease doesn’t get on the cap or bolt threads when putting new grease in. Perfect. Where things go wrong is reinstalling the cap. There is a 4-6nm torque range for this cap. The cap effectively controls the preload of the spindle. (Not the internal bolt holding the washer). It is covered with blue locktight. The treads on the cap are metal while the threads on the pedal body are the plastic material of the pedal body.

Since the face of the pedal is not square to the side of the pedal, it is easy to align the cap slightly off, and with the Amount of locktight in the treads it is hard to tell if you are cross threading it or not. So mine got cross threaded. Take care in this procedure.

Now new pedal bodies are relatively inexpensive, so that is a plus. It’s not the expense that is the issue, it’s the time lost. 5/5 stars for the product of this didn’t happen.

Now it could have been my torque wrench. It has served me well torquing engine components for many years. I ordered the parktool wrench to install the replacement.

Favero Assioma are a bit tricky to find in the US and importing directly from Italy involves hassle. I was really happy to find it here on Power Meter City for a reasonable price. Pedals shipped quickly and were packed well. Install was simple (pro tip make sure to also order some Lithium Grease for the the threads. Pedals work well and seem fairly accurate. Happy with my purchase.

  3. Bill (verified owner)

These pedals are great! I used an SRM for about 10 years, and then moved to a Quarq for a couple years when I could pair it to a GPS. Then moved to Stages for about 12 years, but broke a crank and I couldn’t get a replacement. I’d been curious about the Favero’s for years as they had great reviews, but I’ve been a Shimano user, and didn’t want to change cleats, and the Duo-shi (or whatever the ridiculous name was) had way too big a Q factor and were Ultegra based (sorry, I’m a Dura-Ace snob).

Anyway, was excited when these came out, so I got a pair and installation and calibration and firmware update took about 30 minutes. EZPZ and now I have good power numbers and left/right power balance which I’d never had before. Nothing bad I can say about these pedals currently — they’re as stable, secure, and light as my Dura-Ace pedals were, but they include power numbers so I’m not beholden to any specific crank PMs.

Really happy with the purchase — and PM City shipped them to my place in 2 days, so that was great as well.

Upgraded from the Favero Assioma Duo on my Pinarello Prince. Simply the best power meter pedals on the market. The addition of PCO and lighter weight make them by far the best on the market. Fast delivery and competitive pricing from PMC!

  5. Blake (verified owner)

I could not be more impressed with the RS-2 pedals. Similar to others, I’ve been wanting power pedals from Favero for a long time, but the Q-factor and non-Shimano cleat support was a dealbreaker for me. As soon as the RS-2 pedals where released and available from Power Meter City, I purchased them. I’ve put about 250+ miles on them and they are perfect. The battery life is great, the available metrics are staggering; they are sturdy, strong, and have a clean look. Highly recommend the RS-2’s to anyone looking to upgrade to a power meter pedal.

  6. Dan A (verified owner)

I bought these to upgrade from the gold standard original Assiomas. Kudos to PowerMeterCity for having them in stock ready for sale as soon as they were released. I have dual record tested them against the Neo2T and the dual sided 4iiii DA PM and they have all been within one watt of each other. Kudos to Favero for maintaining their super accuracy. And the new PCO feature has helped me dial in my cleat position as well. Easily the best power meter pedals on the market!

Been riding these new RS-2 for about 2 weeks now. I decided to go back to regular q factor after riding duo-shi for few years. Strange feeling for the first few rides but now I’m very happy with these RS-2. They look very cool and Assioma products are high quality
In terms of data..super accurate just like the duo-shi. Also I like the new feature of Platform centre offeset PCO

  8. Craig (verified owner)

I’ve wanted to go with Favero ever since they came out with the Shi version of their pedals, but couldn’t get around the massive increase in the Q-factor. I was stoked to see these new RS-2 pedals specifically designed for the SPD-SL cleats. I’ve only ridden them a few times and could not be happier with them. DC Rainmaker and GP Lama give them glowing reviews and those guys are my go-to when considering new bike gear. Installation and setup is super easy and their redesigned app is a plus. The charging cables are nice and long making it easy to charge without having to remove the pedals. The 60 hour battery life means I should only need to recharge around once a month.

    • Power Meter City

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Favero RS-2 pedals, Craig! We’re glad to hear they’re hitting the mark for you, especially with the SPD-SL compatibility and easy setup. Long battery life and convenient charging are definitely game changers. Enjoy every ride!
