SRAM RED 22 cranksets, pictured below, have a one-piece driveside crankarm and spider. This means some of the popular spider-based power meters made by companies like SRAM, Quarq and power2max won’t fit as it’s not physically possible to install a spider-based power meter on a crankset like this. However, there are a couple of power meters that will work and we discuss those below.
Power Meter Pedals
Power meter pedals can be installed on any crankset. They are reliable, accurate, easy to install and can be moved between bikes. We carry every power meter pedal available including ones from Favero, Garmin, SRM/LOOK and Wahoo. This includes both single- and dual-sided versions as well as pedals for SPD-SL, LOOK Keo and Speedplay cleats.
Pros: Easy to install, works on any bike, can move from bike to bike, don’t have to change crankset
Cons: None
New Crankset Power Meter
If neither of the above options interest you, you can always change out your crankset for a new power equipped one. We have several road power meter cranksets to choose from. Depending on the crankset, you may be able to use your existing bottom bracket, otherwise it would need to be replaced as well.
Pros: Depends on the crankset – many great power meter cranksets to choose from
Cons: More work to install, potentially more expensive
