Shimano GRX Power Meters

We have several great options for Shimano GRX power meters. In general, you have three options for a GRX power meter: (1) If you already have a GRX crankset on your bike, you can attach a left side power meter crank arm to your crankset; (2) You can purchase a new Shimano GRX crankset that has power sensors attached; or (3) You can buy a power2max crankset that serves as a direct GRX replacement. Below, we summarize these options so you can decide what’s best for you.

Additional Shimano GRX Power Meters Info:

4iiii, Stages or INPEAK Left Crank Arm Power Meter

4iiii, Stages and INPEAK make Shimano GRX RX810 and RX820 power meter crank arms (which are compatible with all Shimano GRX cranksets including GRX RX600). With this type of power meter, you swap out your current left crank arm for the new power-equipped version. These power meters are affordable and easy to install. The trade-off is they only measure left-leg power.

Before purchasing, confirm compatibly with your frame. On some bikes, there is not enough room between the left crank arm and the chainstay for the sensor to clear the frame. Therefore, make sure you have at least 8 mm of clearance. Please refer to the image below.

Pros: Affordable, easy to install, don’t have to change crankset
Cons: Measures left-leg power only

INPEAK Dual-Sided GRX820 Crankset

INPEAK also offers the POWERCRANK-E TWiN2 Shimano GRX RX820 Power Meter which is a dual-sided crankset for Shimano 12-speed GRX drivetrains. This is one of the only power meter cranksets that uses a Shimano GRX RX820 crankset. It comes in both 2x and 1x variations and measures the power generated by both legs independently, with left/right data provided. While this option costs more than a left-side crank arm, it is more accurate as it measures power from both legs.

Pros: Measures dual-leg power
Cons: More expensive than a left-side power meter, slightly more work to install

power2max Crankset Power Meter

power2max offers several different GRX power meter cranksets depending on what chainrings you want to use. They have versions that fit Shimano GRX 1x and 2x chainrings, as well as versions that come with power2max Gravel 1x or 2x chainrings. You have the option of 24 mm or 30 mm spindles as well as aluminum or carbon crank arms. These power2max GRX power meters measure power from both legs, are accurate and very reliable. We use them on our own bikes and highly recommend them.

Pros: Moderately priced, very reliable, measures both legs
Cons: Requires changing out your crankset
