The XDS X-LAB AD8 Road Bike is built for riders who want high-level performance with a balanced aero design. It combines aerodynamic tube shaping with a lightweight carbon frame to create a fast and efficient road bike. Streamlined frame profiles, dropped seat stays and internal cable routing help reduce drag while keeping the design clean and modern. A fully integrated cockpit completes the race-ready setup. The XDS-ASTANA team races the flagship AD9 in the UCI WorldTour, and the AD8 benefits from the same engineering approach and geometry.

XDS uses Toray T800 carbon construction to balance stiffness, durability and weight. This structure provides great power transfer during hard efforts while maintaining comfort on long rides. The geometry focuses on performance with stable handling and responsive acceleration, making it well suited for club racing and fast group rides.

The AD8 comes equipped with reliable Shimano 105 electronic shifting and hydraulic disc brakes for consistent stopping power. A Branta C45 UL carbon wheelset and integrated cockpit complete the build, delivering a smooth and efficient ride experience.

Key Features of the XDS X-LAB AD8

• Aero Tested Design: Aero frame shape borrowed from the AD9 with a streamlined seat tube, fork and seatstays lets the frame slip through the air, conserving watts.
• Performance Build: The X-LAB AD8 comes with Shimano 105 12-Speed Di2 components. XDS swap out the Shimano crankset for a Branta carbon fiber power meter crankset, adding versatility for training and race-day analytics.
• Lightweight, Aero Wheelset: In addition, this bike comes equipped with a high-performing Branta C45 UL carbon wheelset. Featuring a deep profile and carbon bladed spokes, it comes in at only 1330 grams.
• Modern Compatibility: The rear UDH derailleur hanger keeps this bike current and compatible with most drivetrain configurations.

Compatibility

The XDS X-LAB AD8 Road Bike is widely compatible with most modern road components. It is compatible with wheelsets that are disc brake and use 12×100 mm front and 12×142 mm rear thru axles. In addition, this bike uses a T47 86mm threaded bottom bracket shell, and uses a UDH rear derailleur hanger. See Compatibility tab for more information.

Considerations

The fully-internal cable routing is optimized for the included Branta one-piece handlebar. Therefore, using your own barstem is not seamless. Moreover, the geometry of the AD8 is optimized for performance and speed, so it is less suited for ultra-edurance events.

Advice From Our Staff

The XDS X-LAB AD8 borrows the same geometry of the AD9 but at a more agreeable price point. The Shimano 105 Di2 build offers serious value and we see the Branta carbon power meter crankset as a smart addition for both training and racing. While it might not be as light as the AD9 and adds around 600 grams, the AD8 is still a very lightweight aero build. Riders who want a modern road bike with high value components will find the AD8 a great option.
