What is the difference between the SRAM RED, Force and Quarq DZero crank arms?

All of these cranks feature an 8-bolt interface and carbon fiber layup. SRAM has two versions of RED crank arms, their latest iteration is labeled RED E1. The SRAM RED E1 crank arms are the top of the line offering at $400, whereas the SRAM Force and Quarq DZero, which both share the same carbon layup, and are priced at $211. The SRAM RED and Force D1 are available in either DUB or GXP versions. The SRAM RED E1, Force D2 and Quarq DZero are available in DUB only.

In addition, since these cranks all use the same 8-bolt interface, you can mix and match any SRAM or Quarq crank arm with any SRAM or Quarq power meter (just make sure the cranks and power meter are the current generation).

    Hi,

Is the old Quarq Riken R Powermeter compatible withe Red D1 AXS crankarms?

    Kind regards

    1. Dave Harris

Hi and thanks for the question.

Unfortunately, the Riken is not compatible with AXS crankarms. Two obstacles. Your Riken is likely a 3 bolt crankset interface. Also, with the advent of AXS in 2019, there was a lateral spacing change of 1.5 mm. This makes mixing/matching pre-AXS with AXS incompatible. If going with the Red AXS arms, you will need a Dub power meter spider to match. If your Riken is 110 BCD, The Quarq DZero Dub spider works perfectly!

      Thanks,

      1. Flo

Hi , thanks for the reply.

The riken r is already with 8 bolt and is the spacing change only relevant for the compatibility with the derailleur or even with the Crankset?

        1. Dave Harris

Hi and thanks for the great question.

The Quarq Riken is compatible with the pre-2019 8 bolt cranksets. The spacing change was a lateral one involving the power meter spider and the crankset itself making mixing/matching pre-2019 with Dub incompatible. The chainline was not changed but front derailleur issues and spider/crankset contact may occur if one were to mate incompatible units.

          Thanks,

Hi there I want to ask if the quarq dfour dub power meter is compatible with the last generation sram red axs e1 dub crank arms

    1. Dave Harris

Hi and thanks for the question.

Yes indeed. The Quarq DFour Dub was initially designed for Shimano 9100 chainrings and will fit all Carbon AXS cranksets including the new Red AXS E1 cranks.

      Thanks,

Do you know if the dzero is compatible with the SRAM Rival cranks they used to do an aluminum version of the dzero but that is now discontinued.

    1. Dave Harris

Hi and thanks for the question.

Although the Quarq DZero Dub and the aluminum Rival AXS crank share the same 8 bolt mounting pattern, SRAM has designed the DZero power meter spider to be compatible with their AXS Force and Red carbon cranksets only.

      Thanks,

Hi – are the Quarq DZero Crank Arms compatible for non-boost DUB mtb applications with a 49mm chain line? Looking at these to replace the XX1 non-boost crank arms that are currently paired with the SRAM XX1 Eagle DUB Power Meter.

    Thank you!

Hi Ted and thanks for the question.

No. The Quarq DZero crankarms are designed specifically for Road and Gravel applications. You will want to stick to MTB-specific cranks.

      Thanks,
