The ENVE AR40 Disc Brake Wheelset delivers a strong mix of low weight, aerodynamics and tubeless compatibility for all around performance. With a depth of 40 mm, the AR40 is great for riders looking to maximize performance on a variety of terrain. Developed in the Mercedes-Benz F1 wind tunnel, these wheels offer a balance between stability in cross winds and aerodynamic gains. In addition, ENVE optimized these wheels for aerodynamic performance with 28–30 mm tubeless tires. They can also take up to 50 mm wide tires for gravel riding.

ENVE laces the AR40 wheelset to INNERDRIVE Foundation hubs, which come in SRAM XDR and Shimano HG freehub options. These hubs share components with the INNERDRIVE hubs found on the SES series. These shared parts mean ratchets can be swapped out for a wide range of engagement options. The wheel hoops themselves feature a 25 mm internal rim width and are compatible with 27 mm and larger tires. These wheels are also compatible with center lock brake rotors.

Compatibility

This ENVE AR40 Wheelset is compatible with SRAM XDR or Shimano 11- and 12-speed cassettes depending on the freehub selected. Tubeless tires are required. See Compatibility tab for more information.

Minimum Tire Width

These wheels are hookless and have a minimum tire width of 27 mm.

While you don’t get fancy bearings or bespoke carbon layups found in the SES line, much of the ENVE performance is still present.
