How Our US Customers Save on Imports

Duties on Imported Products

When a US customer (individual or business) buys directly from an international manufacturer, US Customs requires duties and tariffs to be paid when the shipment arrives. In the past, there was a de minimis exemption that allowed orders under $800 to avoid these charges. As of August 29, 2025, the US government suspended that exemption. Now all orders shipped directly from overseas are subject to duties, regardless of value.

How We Do It Differently

At Power Meter City, we import products from international manufacturers into the US ourselves. We pay the duties and tariffs upfront when the products enter the country. So when you order from us (assuming you are located in the US), your purchase is already duty-paid. There are no surprise import fees, no customs paperwork, and no delays – just fast, hassle-free delivery.

On top of that, in most cases we can directly assist with exchanges, returns, warranty requests and other support. Handling these issues with a foreign-based manufacturer can be slow, complicated and expensive – but with us, it’s straightforward.

What This Means for You

  • No Duties on US Orders: We’ve already covered them.
  • No Hidden Costs: The price you see at checkout is the price you pay.
  • Faster Shipping: No waiting on customs clearance or payment processing.
  • Local Support: We can help with most exchanges, returns and warranty requests directly – no need to navigate overseas customer service (some exceptions apply).

In short: ordering from us saves you money, time and hassle compared to buying directly from an international manufacturer.
