Eugene grew up ripping down the trails of his hometown, Nelson, New Zealand, where the enduro-world-series-level terrain pretty much guarantees you’ll either fall in love with mountain biking or fall into a spiny gorse bush. Luckily, he chose the former. Before long, he was riding every chance he got. After moving to Dunedin, Eugene dove into community bike programs and trail building, eventually landing his first gig in the bike industry. But Dunedin’s dreary winters eventually proved too much, so he packed his bags and headed for the USA.

These days, Eugene rides everything from the techy granite of the Northeast to the sandy, bikepacking dreamscape of the Utah desert and just about everything in between. He’s stoked to combine his love of writing with his obsession for bikes, and now battles typos and rogue jargon to keep Power Meter City’s content from going over the bars.
