SRM PowerControl 8 (PC8) Cycling Computer

Widely considered the finest of all bicycle computers for structured training and racing, the SRM PowerControl 8 (PC8) is SRM’s renowned head unit. The PC8 displays all of the data you would expect from a top-end head unit, such as speed, distance, cadence, power, heart rate and much more. In addition, the SRM PC8 bike computer displays Training Peaks metrics including, TSS, NP and IF.

The SRM PowerControl 8 supports up to four different bike profiles, is highly configurable, has built-in GPS and features up to 45 hours of battery life.

In addition to function, the SRM PC8 also has form and complements the looks of any bike. The outer casing is made of anodized aluminum, which is available in three standard colors: Red, Black and Polished Silver. Custom colors are also available for an extra $50.

The PC8 bike computer is compatible with all power meters and sensors that support the ANT+ wireless protocol.

    Great product with stable performance. As I had been troubled with unstable performance with Polar V650 with Look/SRM Exakt, I decided to purchase PC8. Though PC8 has a monochrome LCD, it functions enough and I never fell needs of color one during my ride. If you really want to have GPS navigation system, you had better get other products. But if you really need a cycle computer for your ride, this is the one!

    I purchased an SRM PC8 in September of 2019. This is a great product, that I highly recommend to anyone, regardless of your fitness level or cycling expertise. Here are some considered reason why …
    1) Simplicity ! The SRM provides just enough cycling data to be useful at a glance, while at the same time recording all the necessary power, time, speed, heart rate and related data. We live in a Big Data age – where more features and information is considered value. I respectfully disagree. How much information can you safely process, while riding on public roads ? Staring at ride minutia, Strava segments, or maps is distracting, just like texting while driving. The SRM PC8 does a great job of providing the right data, at the right time, and no more.
    2) The SRM PC8 is extremely well made and is bulletproof – classic German quality. You get what you pay for.
    3) Pairing with ANT+ compatible devices is straight forward.
    4) The PC8 desktop companion application is simple and straight forward. PC8 settings and custom screen configurations are easy. Plus your settings and screen configurations can be backed up as a .fit file, so it is possible to save different set-ups in multiple files. This means, for example that you can have one screen set for road cycling, another for track cycling, another for mountain biking, et cetera
    5) If you want to transfer your data to Training Peaks or other similar services, this can be set-up for automatic transfer. However, if you are self coached, you can also use the FREE SRMX desktop application as an alternative. SRMX links seamlessly with the PC8, so you can monitor your training progress for no additional cost.
    6) Real time PC8 display of pedaling metrics – Pedaling Smoothness (PS), Torque Efficiency (TE), and Left-Right Balance are invaluable to improve your cycling and reduce asymmetries – novice, professional, or anyone in between. For example, I have taken my own SRM data to my cycling physical therapist. With their help, I now have a mobility and strength training program focused on correcting pedaling asymmetries 🙂 !

    Great product, the brand has history and speaks for itself so there is not much I can add to it because it is to my taste and needs top of the line with an amazing performance every ride but, above all what an amazing customer service. I’m always bummed about waiting times when sending email inquiries but the POWERMETERCITY team answered almost immediately each time I sent an email, no hassle at all with the purchase and even got an amazing discount just for signing up on their mailing list. If ever I need anything else related to power meters I wouldn’t look anywhere else. Great job guys!

    Works well with Pioneer Power Meter. It also shows pedaling balance for each leg. The display is the best ever. The only downside is the weight. This unit is little bit heavier than other brands (Garmin, Pioneer…).
