About the PowerTap C1 Chainrings
One of the hottest power meters out, the PowerTap C1 Chainrings are the only chainring-based power meter on the market, as other crank-based power meters measure power at the crank spider. Not having to replace your entire crank offers numerous benefits. In addition, the C1 Chainring power meter features dual-sided power measurement and transmit power data via ANT+ as well as Bluetooth SMART. The C1s are available in 53/39t, 52/36t and 50/36t chainring combinations for 5 bolt, 110 BCD cranks.
Left/Right Power Measurement
The PowerTap C1 Chainring power meter transmits power balance which allows to you determine your left vs. right leg power distribution. The C1 is the only dual-sided power meter at this price point.
ANT+ and Bluetooth SMART
The PowerTap transmits data via both the ANT+ and Bluetooth SMART wireless protocols. This makes the power meter compatible with your cycling computer or smartphone.
From a Reputable Company
With so many new companies entering the fray, it’s nice to know you’re buying from an established, reputable company known for producing top-level power meter products.
Only Chainring-Based Power Meter
The C1 Chainrings are the only chainring-based power meter on the market, as other crank-based power meters like measure power at the spider.
Easy to Use
When to comes to using the C1 Chainrings, it doesn’t get much easier. The power meter wakes up with a quick spin of the cranks and is ready to go!
C1 Chainring Power Meter Options
There are three available chainring options for the C1: 50/36t, 52/36t and 53/39t. Because of the nature of the C1 spider, it can’t take a ring smaller than a 36t. This is because the diameter on a 34t for example, is too small and would interfere with the pod on the C1.
The PowerTap C1 Chainrings will bolt directly onto almost any 5-bolt 110 BCD compact crank, including carbon cranks. Note that while PowerTap only supports their own chainrings with the C1, users have reported that the power meter works just fine using other 3rd party chainrings – so that decision is up to you.
