Advice From Our Staff
The Forerunner 165 GPS Watch is a great entry level watch that has activity tracking for a variety of sports. It is the least expensive Forerunner in Garmin’s lineup and provides great value for the price point. We recommend this to more casual athletes who are looking to make sure the basics are covered with some additional features. While this watch provides activity modes for a variety of activities, it does not connect with power meters. For cyclists looking to pair their power meter to their watch, we recommend the Garmin Forerunner 265 or Forerunner 965.

I’ve bougth it to my wife to replace a samsung watch 5 mainly due to the battery. Samsung smartwatch lasts for one day, and having to find time everyday to recharge it is tedious job to say the least. Specially when the watch is supposed to be worn when sleeping. Why not 5 stars? My wife found the way the screen works annoying. There is no way to have the screen to turn on only when you press a button. Even with gestures turned off, a touch on the screen will always turn it on and she hates it. Other than that, the watch is everything you expect from it. brilliant colors, nice battery, nice stats, lightweight, sensors light does not blind other people in bed, etc. We personally like the stress measuring function, that measures the HRV. Soon as you understand what is that, it is life changing.

Hi, Edmo! Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad to hear that the watch has been a good replacement for the Samsung and that your wife appreciates the battery life, vibrant colors, and features like stress measurement. We understand the frustration with the screen activation and appreciate your feedback – it’s great to hear that you both find the heart rate variability feature life-changing. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with!
