About the bePRO Power Meter Pedals

Favero Electronics manufactures the bePRO power meter pedals, a pedal-based power meter. The bePRO is a dual-sided system with a power meter located on each pedal and takes power from both legs in order to determine total power. The power meter provides power from 0 to 2,000 watts and cadence from 30-180 RPM. The bePRO is the most affordable dual-sided system on the market.

Why bePRO

Dual-Sided Power

Since the bePRO locates a power meter on each pedal, it can measure true left and right power. While some power meters provide an estimated left/right power figure, only a few can provide independent left/right data.

Easy to install

You can install the power meter on your bike by yourself in just a few minutes, without the assistance of a mechanic, without needing to modify the transmission, remove the wheels, or install external sensors.

Provided with an advanced compensation system, the bePRO can take accurate and reliable measures in any environmental condition, with a margin of error of only 2%.

Thanks to the ANT+ technology, the pedals are compatible with the best cycling computers available on the market. The power meter software ensures reliable data transmission from the power meter to any commercially available device.

Using high tech content and cutting-edge materials, the weight of the sensor is only 16 grams, making the power meter extremely light. The total weight of each pedal is only 156 grams.

The bePRO power meter pedals are always ready for use. Its rechargeable lithium-ion batteries have a 30-hour life, regardless of whether you are racing or training.

The power meter is reliable in even the most extreme conditions as proved by the rigorous quality tests it successfully passed: impact, drop, wear, water, temperature and humidity tests.

bePRO Power Meter Pedals Options

The power meter is available in two models: the bePRO, a dual-sided system with a power meter located on each pedal, and the bePRO S, a single-sided system with a power meter on the left pedal only. Note that if you buy the single-sided system, you have the option to buy a right side pedal with power at a later date, in order to have a dual-sided power meter system.

  • Compatible with cranks that have thread 9/16″-20tpi and a thickness of at least 12mm – which means it’s compatible with almost any crank

I have been using a fairly cheap Powertap Pro wheelset on my road bike for several years during training rides. I love using power and wanted to use it for races too, but I didn’t want to take my expensive race wheels off my triathlon bike to use the Powertap wheels. I looked at my options for adding power to my tri bike. High end Powertap race wheels and crank based power meters were too expensive. I didn’t have the necessary clearance between the crank and chainstays for the garmin peddles. I saw good reviews for BePRO everywhere I checked so I decided this was the way to go.

Power Meter City had the peddles available, price was good, and shipping was free. Good deal all around so I placed the order. I received these quicker than expected and immediately installed them just in time for a race the next day. Ya, I know, Don’t do anything new on race day but I did it anyway. Install was very easy and so was the calibration process. I did a quick test ride to make sure everything worked prior to the race. Everything worked great and I gained some insight to my bike leg of the race. I discovered that I pushed too hard on hills and slacked off on downhills.

I used these peddles all summer long for all my races. I set up my Garmin 810 so I could watch 3 sec average power, Normalized Power (NP) and Intensity Factor (IF). Having power available allowed be to make my effort more even throughout the race and I was able to go faster overall.

At the end of the summer, I put my bike on the Computrainer (utilizing PerfPro software) with the BePRO peddles (connected to Garmin 920XT) and Powertap wheels (connected to Garmin 810) to compare all 3 methods of measuring power. All 3 were consistent within a couple of watts throughout my little test.

I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and wish I had done it sooner. The cost compared to other power meters, ease of installation, ease of use, ability to swap to another bike, along with quick easy ordering from Power Meter City made this a great all around choice.

I am having a great time with my power meter. I’ve ridden about 12 rides with it and each one has left me better able to ride within a specific zone etc.

I had read Allen and Coggen’s book and am now reading it again. People in the know have said for years that there is absolutely no substitute for training with a power meter. I believed it then, and I know it to  be true now.

Installation of the BePro S was simple and I have experienced no problems using it. As far as I can tell, it is collecting data accurately etc. If you have any specific questions please let me know. Obviously the most beneficial use of the power meter is the ability to review your ride after, not the ability to see your power as you ride per se. I’m grateful for the discount for Training Peaks you afford your consumers. After a brief trial it was a no brainer to buy a subscription.

I just want rate Power Meter City on how quickly they delivered this product. I ordered it on Saturday. I used the free shipping option. I didn’t pay for any expedited service. Again, ordered on Saturday; arrived on Monday!
I haven’t tried them yet. Unfortunately, I have an upper respiratory infection and so can’t breath very well. So, while I have installed them, I haven’t tried them. Installation and pairing to my Garmin Edge 520 was a piece of cake!

Love the service from PowerMeter City and the shipping was fast. I ordered and had the pedals within a couple of days. The pedals are working great so far. The first time installing them has a little bit of a learning curve and takes awhile, but I can do it now in around 5 minutes
