SRAM makes three similar Force cranksets. While they both feature carbon fiber construction, their interface and spindles differ. Here is how they compare:
Force D2
The SRAM Force D2 Crankset is the company’s latest version of Force cranks. They feature a carbon fiber lay-up with a high-gloss grey finish.
- Spindle: SRAM DUB
- Interface: 8-bolt
- Chainring configuration: 1x or 2x
- Spindle lengths: Regular or wide
Force D1
The previous version of Force cranks was called the Force D1. Unliked the D2, this version comes in a GXP version.
- Spindle: SRAM DUB and GXP
- Interface: 8-bolt
- Chainring configuration: 1x or 2x
- Spindle lengths: Regular or wide
Force 1
SRAM also sells the Force 1 crankset, which we also expect them to discontinue at some point.
- Spindle: BB30 or GXP
- Interface: 3-bolt
- Chainring configuration: 1x
- Spindle lengths: Regular
Isn’t Force D2 interface direct mount? D1 you can piece two chainrings and a power meter spider together but not D2.
Hi Charlie and thanks for the question.
The Force D2 crankset only differs from the Force D1 in colorway. The D2 only comes in a Dub spindle where the D1 came in both Dub and GXP. Otherwise identical. Both cranksets have the same 8 bolt mount that will accept a Direct Mount ring, a spider with removeable rings, or the one-piece 2X chainring kit.
Thanks,
